If you live or attend school in Colorado, you have the right to register to vote here. Voting gives you a chance to influence decisions that directly impact your community, education, and future opportunities. It also allows you to help shape the policies and leadership that affect your neighbors and the nation.

How to Register to Vote in Colorado

In Colorado, you can easily register to vote online with the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number, or your Colorado ID. Visit 听to register to vote or check/update your voter registration, including your address. You can also at your County Election office, by mail, or at a Colorado DMV. 听

Colorado Requirements: You must be a U. S. Citizen, at least 16 years of age and live in Colorado for at least 1 day to register. (You must be at least 18 years of age by Election Day to actually cast a ballot.)

Out of State Students: If you are registered in another state, you can from your home state or you can change your registration to vote in Colorado. If voting elsewhere, it is important to 1) be aware of your , 2) understand , and possibly .听

How to Vote at DU

All eligible Colorado registered voters automatically receive a ballot in the mail a few weeks before an election - this makes voting really easy! You can send your ballot in by mail, ballot drop-box, or at an in-person voting center. Here are some helpful tips:

  • The closest ballot drop box for DU students is right on campus! Stop by the and drop your ballot here during an election period.听
  • Watch for information on campus about a temporary voter service center on the DU campus during election periods - in past years it has been easy to stop by to drop your ballot or ask questions of poll workers.听

*Note* If you are voting out of state, please do not drop your absentee ballot in a Colorado ballot box - it will not be delivered to your state! Follow instructions from your state to mail your ballot using the United States Postal Services..
